Michael Caine: Part 6 and Full version download

So this is what everyone has been waiting for. Now you can download this entire series in the full resolution directly from my site. No more YouTube with an out of sync audio track, or pixelated picture. For as long as I'm permitted, I'll host the files, and you'll be able to download them from the sidebar on the right below.

I've also uploaded the full program in on file for those that wish to view it in one piece. This file is over 600 MB, and can be found in the same side bar below.

I hope everyone enjoys this, and thanks for being patient. It's great to share these things, but it sure takes a lot of work and time to do it sometimes.

Up next is the rest of Composing Pictures. I'm thinking about doing a similar sidebar for this, and organizing it into PDF Chapters. I'm going to be extremely busy over the next month or two, so I can only hope I can spare enough time to get this started soon.

More Color, Caine

For the last five months I've been labouring intensely over a portfolio I'm preparing for an application to Cal Arts. Well tonight I'm heading down there to check out the school for myself. After all this work, I still don't have a solid idea of what they are looking for, and the direction I should head in with my portfolio as the deadline approaches. So my goal is to come back with a new direction, and I should have ample time (I plan on sending off my portfolio halfway through December) to crank out some new work in the next two months. This application is the primary reason behind my recent experimentation with color. Here's some recent color work; the majority of this is from last night's gesture class.

As promised I will begin reposting the Michael Caine: Acting in Film videos I posted years back on YouTube. Except this time, I will be hosting the files myself, and delivering the goods: Full resolution AVI files with no sound problems. These files are 640x480, the highest resolution of this video I know of (as it was never produced on DVD, only VHS).

Filling the Void with Familiarity

There's been a little absence in posting, as I'm keeping very busy as of late. I'm trying to draw constantly. I'm going to life drawing at least three days a week, and drawing at every possible moment during the day.

It's the only way I think I'll start getting better at this stuff. I'm currently working on a portfolio for my dream school, so drawing has occupied every single nook and cranny of my cranium.

I got rid of my computer to elminate the distraction of the internet, and the amount of time I wasted on it, which could be better devoted to drawing. So for the first time in over 10 years, I don't have a computer. It was weird at first, but now it makes total sense. And I love thinking about drawing drawing drawing, all the time. So posting has become something of a rarity without a computer with which to do it. Scanning, and posting pictures has become even rarer. I've eliminated almost everything in my life that wastes time...So I can draw.

To fill the distance between posting, I thought I might (slowly) resume posting Don Graham's Composing Pictures chapters. I've had requests for this as well as a reposting of the Pixar Interview which jump started this blog's humble popularity spike. I have also decided to post the entire full resolution version of Michael Caine's, Acting in Film. I have had a lot of requests for this, and I figured it's finally time. I know a lot of Animation Mentor students use the crappy YouTube version I posted years back. So it would be nice for them to watch something where the voicetrack is actually in sync.

Anyway, that's just a sampling of things to come, or come again. Give me time, but those will be some of the next posts. Until then...

Here's the final part. Unfortunately, the series has a little lag in audio. I've decided to post the full video up on ftp, full resolution for people to download if they wish. If you're interested, give me a shout. I'm not sure if it's aloud or not, but the program is currently out of print on VHS, and not available to purchase on DVD. If I get in hot water I'll simply take it down.
